Roulette Rules
Roulette is the most exciting and favourable casino game ever invented. No wonder people call this great and unique game "The Queen of all casino games". If you think about it then first casino game that comes to your mind will be roulette. So what is roulette game all about? Roulette is a game similar to wheel of fortune which you have surely seen at least once in your life. The roulette wheel is placed on a special table where a game dealer spins it each round. Depending on which roulette variation you play there are 37 or 38 numbered slots on the actual wheel. You can choose from European roulette or American roulette. Both, European and American roulette wheels have 36 numbered slots coloured either red or black (18 red and 18 black). The European roulette has 37 slots so there are slots with numbers 1 to 36 and one extra green slot numbered as zero (0). American roulette has 38 slots so there are usuall 36 numbered slots and also the green zero (0) slot, but on top of that there is another green slot numbered as double zero (00). Roulette wheel is where the game is being played and the roulette table is where you place your actual bets.
When You Come to Roulette Table
As almost all casino games also roulette has a person who is in charge of the game. In other games this person is called a dealer. As roulette comes from France the dealer in roulette is called croupier. Croupier spins the wheel in one direction and then he uses a ball which he rolls the opposite direction on the edge of the wheel. Who wins is decided after the ball lands in one of the slots. When you come to a roulette table and decide to play the first thing you need to do is to buy chips from the croupier. Keep in mind that chips for roulette are in most cases different from all chips used for different games in the same casino. Each player at a roulette table will get chips of a different colour so the croupier can easily determine which chips belong to which player. This makes it much easier for the croupier to pay out to the right player without making mistakes. Remember that chips represent money and that you always have to exchange your chips for money with the croupier before you leave the table. Not doing so coud cause you a trouble in terms of lost money!
When to Bet at Roulette Table
To start your bets you should wait for the croupier to call "Place your bets!". Once you hear the croupier to call you can keep placing your bets on the roulette table until the croupier calls "No more bets!". Placing bets after this call is called "Past Posting" (late betting) and it is illegal! In most states placing a bet after you already know the result of the spin is taken as seriously illegal so keep this in mind! This usually happens when the rolling roulette ball slows down and before it lands in one of the numbered slots. Once the ball lands in a slot the game is over and you immediately know whether you win or lose this round. After the result of the spin is determined, the croupier puts a marker on top of the winning number. Then all losing bets are cleared away from the table and the croupier pays off the winning bets. Croupier should pay off outside bets first and then he should pay off the inside bets. Keep in mind that you always have to wait until the croupier clears the table completely and calls "Place your bets!" before you can start placing your bets for next round.
